DORI CHITAYAT performed his first Spanish
Guitar mini recital in 1978. At age 14 he
had his first live band performance with a
college audience of more than 500 people.
In the past 25 years Dori has played in
numerous live situations both with the guitar
as well as drums and percussion. Having had
a Sephardic Jewish upbringing and early
exposure to middle-eastern as well as
far-eastern music, Dori found a strong
connection to the melodies of Flamenco and
has devoted the last 8 years of his life to the
study of Spanish Flamenco guitar. For the
past 4 years Dori has been sharing his
Flamenco Guitar solo compositions with
audiences in the Lowcountry, playing
regularly at various restaurants,
public events, fund-raisers as well as
wedding and private parties. Dori joined
Flamenco Soltado in Spring of 2009 as its
guitarist and musical director.
